Fourth of July at the Lake

My parents' neighbors graciously offered us their lake house for the festive Fourth of July weekend. The riverfront property is in Palmyra, Virginia, just outside of Charlottesville (home of UVA). We were so grateful (and surprised) they let us all descend on their beautiful home. All 12 of us. Thankfully, no damage was done. :)

When we weren't outside swimming at the lake or the pool, fishing, or taking a walk, we were relaxing in the a/c playing games, watching movies, playing ping-pong, and eating refreshing treats like homemade ice cream, provided by David and Traci. We consumed an inordinate amount of popsicles. The scenery was breathtaking.

The best part, of course, was spending time with family. Mel, Mike, and fam joined us from NY. We missed Jon, Kathryn, and fam. Thanks to my parents for spearheading the wonderful trip! It was the perfect getaway weekend -- the calm before the storm of getting the house ready followed by the the big move (one week from today!!)

Fun weekend! Isn't it great living by family? How was the move in? You need to post more pictures of the house in progress. As for the bookshelves, I'm no expert at all in the area (I rely on Creed for such projects) but I like doors or baskets sometimes to hide clutter and minimize dust. Just an idea. But if you're a saver like me, you might need all the shelf room for those huge grad school books that you just can't part with. Who knows when you'll need a little comms theory, right?
